Nabeyin earns another Grammy nomination this time for his production on Rocky Dawuni "Rise"

GLDNWST Proudly Supports Nabeyin’s Grammy Nomination for Rise by Rocky Dawuni

Los Angeles, CA — November 22, 2024 — GLDNWST is thrilled to announce that Grammy-nominated producer Nabeyin has earned yet another prestigious nod, this time for his exceptional work on Rise by international reggae icon Rocky Dawuni. The track is nominated in the Best Global Music Performance at this years awards.

This nomination recognizes Nabeyin’s artistry and his collaboration with fellow producer First Born, who together created the vibrant and soul-stirring soundscape that defines Rise. Their production perfectly complements Dawuni’s masterful vocals and poignant lyrics, making the song a standout piece in the global music landscape.

A Celebration of Unity and Cultural Excellence

Rise is more than just a song, it’s an anthem of unity and resilience. Its genre-defying sound bridges cultures and musical traditions, resonating deeply with listeners around the world. The collaboration came to life following a chance meeting between Nabeyin, First Born, and Rocky Dawuni at an event in Los Angeles. The synergy from that connection sparked a creative journey that culminated in this extraordinary track.

“This nomination is particularly special,” says Kai Wilson, former manager of Nabeyin. “Unlike Nabeyin’s first Grammy nod for Heaven & Hell on Kanye West’s Donda, which involved multiple contributors, Rise is a pure collaboration between three gifted individuals, Rocky Dawuni, Nabeyin, and First Born. It’s a testament to the power of focused artistry and shared vision.”

A Legacy of Excellence

Nabeyin has consistently proven his ability to shape music that stands the test of time. From his Grammy-nominated work with Kanye West to his forward-thinking productions, he continues to solidify his reputation as a trailblazer in the industry. Rise exemplifies his evolution as a producer, showcasing his commitment to crafting music that is both innovative and deeply impactful.

GLDNWST encourages all Grammy Voting Members to consider Rise during the final round of voting. This remarkable track deserves recognition not only for its exceptional artistry but also for its contribution to the global music canon.

K-Wil & 'Philly D' attend the screening of Pasadena: Expoloring Solutions to Reduce Gang Violence

Pasadena, CA - On a powerful evening in Pasadena, Philly D, GLDNWST’s in-house recording engineer, and K-Wil attended the screening of PASADENA: Exploring Solutions to Reduce Gang Violence, an eye-opening documentary by Steve Sneed and his talented team. The film dives into the deeply rooted challenges of gang violence, offering a blueprint for community-driven solutions. Through compelling narratives and honest dialogue, it illustrates how understanding and collaboration can transform neighborhoods plagued by cycles of poverty and violence.

Philly D, who has deep ties to Pasadena and has worked closely with many of the city’s fledgling recording artists and entrepreneurs, described the film as a much-needed spotlight on the city’s history and potential for growth.

K-Wil shared his personal connection, reflecting, "Growing up, I attended K-12 schools in Arcadia, but my parents made sure I was exposed to different ways of life by keeping me connected to Pasadena through programs like the Pasadena Running Roses. Back in the late '80s and early '90s, Pasadena was a very different place. Violence was a constant concern, and tragedies like the Halloween murders in ‘93—where three teens lost their lives after being mistaken for gang members—left a lasting impact.

I’ve always had an affinity for Pasadena, and that connection influenced my decision to teach in the city from 2005 to 2011. I truly hope to see a day where people of color come together, build toward progress, and foster a stronger sense of community."

The film underscores the need for community togetherness, especially in neighborhoods of color grappling with systemic socioeconomic challenges. It paints a vivid picture of how education, outreach, and dialogue can mend fractures and foster understanding. The stories of those impacted and the solutions they propose aren’t just relevant to Pasadena but serve as a global call to action.

If you believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change, consider supporting this important work by contributing to the GoFundMe campaign.

This remarkable project is already making waves on platforms like FilmFreeway and is a must-watch for anyone invested in creating safer, more unified communities.

Congratulations to Steve Sneed and his team for a job well done! This film is not just a documentary but a testament to the power of resilience, dialogue, and hope.
